Our Story
Although ECM started in 2016, our team has many years of experience in residential, commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR). Founder Keith Didychuk, well known for his unmatched problem-solving skills and ability to find the root of problems, started ECM to give more economical solutions to homeowners and business owners for their HVACR needs.
Keith started in the trade in 2001 and has never stopped expanding his skill set ever since. He earned his Certified Energy Managers (CEM) designation from the Association of Energy Engineers and continues upgrading and adding skills to his portfolio.
In 2021, Keith launched Kingston Heat Pumps, an arm of ECM that focused on helping you save on your heat pump installations through free grant & rebate guidance and support. We are proud to install the most efficient and cost-effective products on the market.
Keith Didychuk — Owner
Keith Didychuk is the Owner of ECM Heating and Cooling, leading the company with a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. With over 20 years of experience in the HVAC industry and a CEM designation from the Association of Energy Engineers, Keith has built ECM on the values of reliability, transparency, and doing the job right the first time. He is actively involved in both the technical and operational sides of the business, ensuring that every project across Kingston, Belleville, Loyalist Township, and Gananoque meets the company's high standards.

Shane Ferguson — Lead Installer
Shane Ferguson is one of ECM's lead installers, bringing more than eight years of hands-on trades experience to every job across Kingston and the surrounding area. He holds a G2 gas licence and takes a methodical approach to installation, making sure every system is set up right before he leaves a site. Shane takes pride in doing the job properly the first time, and it shows in the quality of work he delivers for homeowners throughout Eastern Ontario.

Stephen Buss — Senior Technician
Stephen Buss brings more than 30 years of trades experience to the ECM team — a depth of knowledge that covers a wide range of systems and situations across Kingston, Belleville, and the surrounding region. He holds a Gas Fitter licence, Refrigeration 313A, G3, and an Ozone Depletion Prevention certification, giving him the credentials to handle complex service and installation work with confidence. Stephen is a steady, reliable presence on the team, and the kind of technician Eastern Ontario homeowners can trust to get the job done right.

With over 18 years of experience in the HVAC industry, Andy VanAllen brings deep technical knowledge and real-world expertise to every project in Kingston and Eastern Ontario. His training includes Residential Heat Loss and Heat Gain Calculations, Residential Air System Design, Introduction to Hydronic Heating, the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition Residential Designers Course, and Unico System Certified Product Training. Andy's background in the fuels industry gives him a broader perspective than most Home Comfort Advisors, allowing him to recommend solutions that genuinely fit each home in the region. What he enjoys most is hearing from customers after an installation — especially when the system performs even better than expected.

Federico Sakson — Energy Systems Technician
Federico Sakson is an Energy Systems Technician with over 20 years of experience in commercial operations and customer service, combining technical expertise with a strong client-focused approach. At ECM, he works with Kingston-area homeowners to review residential blueprints and work order specifications, determining the most efficient system layouts and installation procedures for each project. Federico's goal is to make sure every job is well-designed, clearly communicated, and executed to a high standard — and that customers feel confident and informed throughout the entire process.
